Eric and his mate
Sandy recently completed LEJoG - and took some inspiration from the early
part of my route. They would have liked to do the Arran piece as well, but
didn't have quite enough time - plus they happen to live in/near Edinburgh,
so the temptation of a night in our own beds was a bit strong. ( I can
understand that - Al) |

Clive
completed 969 miles from Land's End to John o'Groats in 12 days along with
26 others in Sept 2009. He says 'It was an amazing experience & one I will
always remember. I am very grateful to all that sponsored me (and have
raised >£3000) for the local Hospice. I am also grateful to my family who
allowed me to go off on long training rides & weekends as well as to bugger
off for 2 weeks to do the actual ride.' His great words continue, at
least just read the intro and if you're not inspired to do the trip then you
never will be! |

Stuart folowed our route exactly in April 2010 and
this is his feedback.
Hi Alan,
Just finished lejog using your route exactly, with my friends copied in
here! I downloaded your GPS route data and uploaded it into a bike-mounted
GPS device and so it was really easy to plan for us although the
rechargeable battery decided not to work so I have spent a small fortune on
duracells!
Thanks very much for putting the route online, it was a really fantastic
picturesque way to go. We raised money for Clic Sargent, a childrens cancer
charity.
We did deviate once to go via Greenock & Bute to pick up a friend, and then
we rejoined your route at Tarbet - so we missed out Arran but Bute was
amazing.
Also we were so tired after day 1 that we wondered if we would be able to
make it but it all got easier from there, which I remembered you had said in
the blog and also we met some people along the way who had done it and they
all said Cornwall was the hardest part and that we were over the worst! We
were really lucky with the weather, it only lightly rained twice for about
30 minutes each time.
Great experience, thank again for taking the time to put the resource
online,
Cheers,
Stuart |

Annika, along with 5 others, will be setting off
on her LEJOG at the end of May / beginning of June
2010
If things go to plan, it’ll take 12 days to do
the roughly 1100 miles, no rest days. They'll mainly be camping, but
stopping at hostels when the desire for a real bed
becomes overwhelming. The idea is to be as self-sufficient as possible.
As Annika says. 'Why? To see if we can. Because
I’ve lived in England for nearly 9 years and have seen woefully little of
it. Because we like riding bikes, and it seems like a good way of
seeing most of the country — or at least the pretty bits.' You won't be
disappointed Annika. |

For the gentlemen:
Land’s End is the extreme south-westward (but not
southern or western) point of Great Britain,
situated in western Cornwall at the end of the
Penwith Peninsula.
John o’ Groats is the traditionally acknowledged
extreme northern point of Scotland, in north-eastern

For the ladies
Land’s End is at the bottom.
John o’ Groats is at the top.

Pete last year did London to Paris and thoroughly
enjoyed the experience and this year wanted to set a bigger target.
He's doing JOGLE instead of the other way because he
figures it is going to be a bit easier to get home from Cornwall than the
highlands of Scotland.
The plan so far is to take about 12 days to do the ride,
roughly 120km a day, which will give enough time to hopefully be able to
take in the sights and of course stop for a few pub lunches along the way.
Planning for JOGLE around
